Toph's Day Out It was a fine afternoon in the city of Ba Sing Se. A good four years after the fall of Fire Lord Ozai and the end of the war. Toph was walking down a street in the lower quarters of the city. Perhaps she couldn't see the clear sky, but she could feel the warm air, and hear the busy sound of the surrounding cityscape. Left, right, ahead, behind. Sound was everywhere. Over to her right a man was beheading pig-chickens to sell. Some people passed by to her left on bicycles - a very recent invention from the industrious Fire Nation that spread across the world like wildfire. The Cat and the Tree The kameter beetle drones wallowed in the stillness and heat of the air under the summer sun that hung over the plains of the Jami Province. Nearby, the river cows rolled around in the mud, desperate to keep themselves cool. A tree stood not far, a green umbrella over the beige grass of the plains. However, neither would approach. There lurked in the tree's shade danger and death. The tree itself went unharmed, though its shadow grew ever darker. This tree was lush, close to a river as it was, even one such as this, reduced to rolling-mud during this season's apex.
